Biography
Pichai Sundararajan, better known as Sundar Pichai, is an Indian–American business executive who has been the CEO of Google since 2015 and the CEO of its parent company Alphabet Inc. since 2019.
Career Timeline
Pichai was born on June 10, 1972 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, to a Tamil Hindu family.
He earned a B.Tech in metallurgical engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1993.
On March 13, 2013, Pichai added Android to the list of Google products that he oversaw.
Pichai had been suggested as a contender for Microsoft's CEO in 2014, a position that was eventually given to Satya Nadella.
Pichai was included in Time's annual list of the 100 most influential people in 2016 and 2020.
Pichai was appointed to the Alphabet Board of Directors in 2017.
In December 2019, Pichai became the CEO of Alphabet Inc.
In 2022, Pichai received the Padma Bhushan in the category of Trade and Industry from the Government of India, the country's third-highest civilian award.
